B - Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band

My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe

...MY PINK HALF OF THE DRAINPIPE...
-----------------------------------

by Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band
.........................

*from 'The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse' (1968)*

*CAPO 3rd FRET*

(Original Key: Bb)

Intro:

G Bm/F#, Em Bm/F# (x2)

Verse 1:

G Bm/F#
 You who speak to me,
           Em Bm/F#
Across the fence,
          G Bm/F# Am, E
Of common sense.
    Am Am/maj
How your tomato plant,
           Am7
Will win a prize,
              Am6
Won't that be nice?
           Am D7
And by the way,
           G
How's your wife?

     C
Your holidays,
     C+
Were spent in Spain,
    Am7
You went by train,
       D7
You'll go again.

Verse 2:

G Bm/F#
 Have you seen me bullfight,
Em Bm/F#
 Poster on the wall?
       G
Do you know the 'appy,
Bm/F# Am E
 Memory it re-calls?
         Am Am/maj
Here's a photograph of me,
       Am7 Am6
And my son, Ted,
          Am
That's me cousin with,
    D7 G
His hanky on his head!

   C
We booked in at our 'otel,
C+
 Just after two,
          Am7
And met a family,
From Bradford,
D7
 That we knew.

Interlude:

G
 Oooh,
          G7
What melo-dy-a!
(Burp!)

Chorus 1:

G Bm/F#
 My pink half,
       Em Bm/F#
Of the drainpipe,
G
 Separates,
     Bm/F# Am E
Next door from me.
Am Am/maj
 My pink half,
       Am7 Am6
Of the drainpipe,
    Am D7 (n.C)
Oh, Mama!
          (G)
Belongs to me.

Interlude:

G Bm/F#, Em Bm/F# (x2)

Sax Solo:

G Bm/F#, Em Bm/F#
G Bm/F#, Am E

Am Am/maj, Am7 Am6
Am7 D7, G

C C+, Am7 D7

Chorus 2:

G Bm/F#
 My pink half,
       Em Bm/F#
Of the drainpipe,
G Bm/F# Am E
 Semi-de-tach-ed, ah!
Am Am/maj
 My pink half,
       Am7 Am6
Of the drainpipe,
    Am D7 (n.C)
Oh, Mama!
          (G)
Belongs to moi.

Interlude:

G Bm/F#, Em Bm/F# (x2)

Verse 3:

         G
I have a sister,
      Bm/F#
In To-ronto,
        Em Bm/F#
Who's a nurse,
         G
And I've had a bit,
   Bm/F# Am E
Of bother laying turf.
     Am Am/maj
It's life, not books,
That taught me,
Am7 Am6
 All I've learned,
Am D7
 Woop, in the b'oven,
        G
My rice pudding's,
Getting burned!

      C
'Ere, have you seen,
The new attachment,
C+
 On me drill?
  Am7
I must have,
The cat put down,
          D7
'Cos he's ill.

Break:

(n.C)
 Hey, neighbour!

Chorus 3:

G Bm/F#
 My pink half,
       Em Bm/F#
Of the drainpipe,
G Bm/F# Am E
 I may paint it blue.
Am Am/maj
 My pink half,
       Am7 Am6
Of the drainpipe,
Am D7 (n.C)
 Keeps me safe from,
(n.C)
 You...!

Interlude:

(Glockenspeil):

G

G
 I'm a wobbly jelly,
C G
 You're a pink blanc-mange,
C G
 I'm a sherry trifle,
A7 D7
 You're a chocolate sponge.
G
Your dad wears a paper hat,
C G
 Mine inflates bal-loons,
(n.C)
 Whoops! Boodly boop!
(Pop!) Here comes a spoon!

Coda:

G Bm/F#
 My pink half,
       Em Bm/F#
Of the drainpipe,
G Bm/F#
 Separates me from,
       Am E
The in-credibly fascinating,
              Am
Story of your life,
          Am/maj Am7
And every day to day event,
            Am6
In all it's minute,
               Am
And tedious at-tention,
           D7
To detail...

             G
And was it a Thursday,
Or a Wednesday?
    C
Or, oh, no,
It wasn't though.
Oh, who cares anyway,
        C+
Because I do not,
So Norman,
                 Am7
If you're normal,
I intend to be a freak,
                   D7
For the rest of my life.
And I shall baffle you,

     G
With cabbages,
    Bm/F#
And rhinoceroses,
       Em
In the kitchen,
             Bm/F#
Incessant quotations,
      G Bm/F#
From "Now We Are Six",
Through the mouthpiece,
   Em
Of Lord Snooty's,
Bm/F#
 Giant poisoned,
  G Bm/F#
E-lectric head.
   Em Bm/F#
So there......

Outro:

G Bm/F#, Em Bm/F# (x6)
